| TV3 signed up to Ghana Business Code |
TV3 Network Limited and two other media organizations, have signed up to the Ghana Business Code.
By this, the organizations have committed themselves to good corporate governance underlined by sound human and labour rights, environmental and anti-corruption responsibilities.
The Ghana Business Code contains a set of ethical business principles based on the United Nations global compact, which seeks to promote corporate social responsibility.
The code is designed to assist businesses uphold acceptable standards in human rights, labour management, environment and transparency.
Since 2006, business associations and industry have been working with the Danish Development Agency, Danida, to get most companies to sign on to the code.
TV3 has at a short ceremony in Accra become the first television station in the country to sign on to the Ghana Business Code.
At the same function, Accra-based radio station Citi-fm and the Business and Financial Times, also signed up.
By the move, the media organizations have voluntarily committed themselves to respecting and promoting human rights, good environmental management and labour standards and the fight against corporate corruption.
The Executive Director of the Association of Ghana Industries, Cletus Kosiba, in a speech read for him encouraged the entrants to publicly endorse the code through their various channels.
The Executive Director of the Ghana Employers Association, Rose Karikari Annan, enumerated the benefits of signing on to the code, encouraging others to follow suit.
A Danida official, Lars Jespen, advised the companies go beyond just signing to implementing the tenents of the code to promote corporate social responsibility in the country. |
