Dan Botwe Predicts Victory For Akufo-Addo

Dan BotweThe Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe, on Wednesday, predicted a landslide victory for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the primaries of the New Patriotic Party, scheduled for August 7.

Nana is the favourite to win the flagbearer position of the party, being contested by five people, he maintained. Mr Botwe said Nana Akufo-Addo was the best man to lead the party into election 2012 because of his popularity, political maturity and experience.

He said although all the other candidates qualified to be president, the only one who could bring the NPP back to power was Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Botwe has, therefore, appealed to the delegates to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo to win power for the party and "save Ghanaians from the total mess of the Professor Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, in an interview after the dedication of his new MP's office, at Adukrom, Mr. Botwe said Nana Akufo-Addo was currently enjoying massive grassroots support from both the youth and the elderly, including floating voters.

According to the former Minister of Information, Nana Akufo-Addo had done it before by winning the Abuakwa Constituency seat for three conservative times, contesting the last general election and performing well and was, therefore, not a candidate they could do away with.

The MP said majority of NPP MPs were strongly supporting Nana Akufo-Addo to win the contest for the simple reasons that he was a man of peace, proven and tested politician, dedicated and committed to the party since its formation.

He appealed to all the candidates and their supporters to remain calm as the date for the congress approaches and not to do anything that would dent the hard won reputation of the party.

Mr. Botwe said NPP would come out united after the congress contrary to views by some analysts, especially their political opponents, that the party would be divided after the election. Let us close our ranks and work hard to help improve the fortunes of the party in the 2012 election, he said.
