| Parliament Passes University of Ghana Bill 2010 |
The minority in parliament has expressed its disappointment at the failure of government to explain changes made to the STX deal, following its withdrawal from the house two weeks ago.
Although a new agreement on the 1.5 billion dollar housing agreement has been presented, deputy minority leader Ambrose Dery, insists his side will only back a deal offering value for money.
The minority's encounter with the media was in reaction to an earlier one by minister of works and housing, Alban Bagbin.
Deputy leader, Ambrose Dery, was amazed the minister rather failed to explain how the concerns raised over initial agreement had been addressed, but instead waged a propaganda agenda against the NPP.
The minority's ranking members on the finance and works and housing ministries maintained earlier issues raised by their side were still relevant and unanswered.
The minority is demanding the government to address issues with the sovereign guarantee offered STX to source financing and the 260 million dollar political risk insurance on the $1.5billion credit facility.
Other issues had to do with free land offered by government, the joint venture and off-taker agreements, architectural designs covering the project and the unit cost per building.
Meanwhile, parliament has passed the University of Ghana bill 2010.
The law empowers the premiere university on a path of modernization to bring it at par with the best tertiary institutions globally. |
